About Me

I am currently offering crises counselling within our local Dorset community, working for the Mental Health Integrated Community Care (MHICC) project, in collaboration with the NHS. I have been practicing and teaching meditation for 25 years and am a qualified MBSR teacher having trained with the University of California San Diego Centers for Integrative Health, USA. I feel fortunate that I have had the opportunity to spend five years at a Zen Buddhist monastery in South Africa where I studied mindfulness based psychology, Buddhist Philosophy and human behaviour. I am an accredited counsellor and the author of Managing Depression with Mindfulness for Dummies. My interest in mindfulness and the “inner work” has been inspired through my own healing journey through PTSD and depression and it is this very journey that has inspired my passion in empowering others in their own efforts towards more conscious and compassionate living. My mindfulness approach and clinical work is trauma informed, drawing on secular mindfulness, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, EMDR Resource Enhancement as well as the Buddhist healing philosophy. I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society as well as the British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches. I live in Bournemouth with my partner and our four-year-old daughter. Whenever time allows I enjoy soaking up the sun at our beautiful local Dorset beaches.
