About Me
I initially trained as a mindfulness teacher with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli in 2001 when they came to Bangor to offer their first UK Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Course. Since then I have taught three or four Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) courses each year, mainly in my role as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist in the NHS. I was blessed to do this under the mentorship and supervision of Dr Alistair Smith, Clinical Psychologist (2001 to 2006). I currently teach FREE 8-week MBCT courses for the NHS in Blackpool, available both online and face-to-face (Thursdays 17:30 to 19:30) and to sign-up either telephone, email or apply through our website. From 2009 to 2020 I was a member of the UK Network of Mindfulness-based Teacher Training Organisations (now BAMBA) and contributed to the development of Teacher Training, Supervision and Registration Guidelines. During this period I was involved in training over 50 MBCT teachers. In 2013-2015 we contributed to the ASPIRE Study, as an NHS site (then Lancashire Care NHS Trust) delivering MBCT courses across the county. In 2015-2016 I worked on the MYRIAD Trial for the Oxford Mindfulness Centre in a research trial to deliver mindfulness in schools. I was born and bred in Blackpool and have returned to my roots, now at the end of my career. It would be an absolute pleasure to welcome you onto one of our courses and I look forward to working with you.
