BAMBA – British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches: High Level EDI Strategy 2025 – 2028
Promote safe, ethical and inclusive practice
A) Review and update existing Good Practice Guidelines (GPG) with the continued focus of promoting safe, ethical, and inclusive practices that support three key modes of mindfulness delivery including:
• Clinical healthcare,
• The workplace and
• Social/environmental well-being.
B) Bamba will provide easily accessible resources to communicate revised Good Practice Guidelines to support the three key delivery modes, including clinical, workplace, and social applications.
C) Bamba will collaborate with its affiliate and experts from the field with lived experience to develop EDI and trauma-informed Good Practice Guidelines covering three key delivery strands: healthcare, the workplace, and social development. BAMBA will repeat the review process applied to the GPG to then review the Mindfulness-Based Interventions Teaching Assessment Criteria or (MBI-TAC).
Communication and managing change
A) BAMBA will communicate key areas that influence safe delivery, relatability and impact of mindfulness when delivered within the three key strands of healthcare, the workplace and social wellbeing.
The benefits of mindfulness across the three strands in relation to underserved, underrepresented, disadvantaged, and discriminated-against groups will also be better communicated online and via the website to encourage and support such groups’ accessing mindfulness practice and teaching in social and workplace settings.
B) Bamba will embed accessibility and inclusivity in all guidance and standards we create to promote competency.
3 Communicate the impact of EDI Mindfulness-based approaches
A) Bamba will increase public understanding and awareness of EDI-informed mindfulness-based approaches via a range of communication mediums and its membership.
B) Bamba will provide a central source of information that gains the trust of those looking to learn, teach, research, and commission mindfulness practices focused on clinical healthcare, the workplace, and social well-being, benefiting wider society, particularly those who are underrepresented and/or protected under UK Law.
4. Set professional standards
A) BAMBA will advocate for and promote the development of a JEDI task force that will centre JEDI practices, research and anti-oppressive teaching methods that widen access and scope of applications. Publish new and reviewed GPG’s and an MBIT-TAC alongside the provision of CPDs and assessment criteria covering the guidelines and assessment criteria to help set and maintain standards.
B) Bamba will review and update the status of mindfulness teaching as a profession appropriately.
